The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Make copy of entire database

Asked by fractor in MS SQL DTS, SQL Server 2005

Tags: ,

I have a SQL Server 2005 database hosted with a third party. I want to create a copy of the whole database, including schema, data, stored procedures - everything. This copy is to be used locally for development and testing purposes.

The hosting provider has suggested I use the Import Wizard. I used DTSWizard.exe, but this did not create the stored procedures.

I have also attempted to use the Copy Database Wizard from SQL Server Management Studio (Tasks > Copy Database). However, while performing the Execute SQL Server Agent Job action, it fails with the following error:

The job failed. Check the event log on the destination server for details.

The Application event log shows the following error:
Source: SQLISPackage
Category: None
Event ID: 12291
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Description: Package "CDW_INET8776_PCFFG_1" failed. For more information see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

There is also the following warning:
Source: SQLSERVERAGENT
Category: Job Engine
Event ID: 208
Description: SQL Server Scheduled Job 'CDW_INET8776_PCFFG_1_2' (0xA[...]) - Status: Failed - Invoked on: [...] Message: The job failed. The Job was invoked by User PCFFG\Fractor. The last step to run was step 1 (CDW_INET8776_PCFFG_1_2_Step). For more information [...].

Clicking the 'more information' links did not provide more information.

This is a serious problem for me as I need to get a full replica of this database off of the hosting server. Thanks.Start Free Trial
